Blessing of water

Main water source and first-grade river

Shirakawa water source

First-grade river "Shirakawa" who drifted to the Kumamoto city collected rain and springs that most of the running water poured into Aso caldera of upper basin. Rain which it rained in the middle basin hardly flows into Shirakawa to penetrate underground. In other words, it is not exaggeration even if water flowing through Shirakawa is called water of Aso caldera. Aso caldera was divided into two of Aso Valley and Nango Valley, but Kurokawa of Aso Valley, Shirakawa of Nango Valley were entrances of caldera, and Shirakawa joined, too. It is Shirakawa water source to blow up water suddenly in most upper classes part of this Shirakawa. Water that 60 tons a minute spring out becomes river approximately 5m in width immediately from spring point and drifts with flow quantity whether it is pickled to knee.

Ikeyama water source

We go north by Beppu Ichinomiya Line by car from the Aso area and we turn right halfway and go to the small in northern Ubuyama. When we turn left for the fingers in northern Ubuyama and run for several minutes, there is "Ikeyama water source". There is here Ikeyama water source to 780m above sea level, and water which is chosen as 100 selections of national famous clear water, Kumamoto famous clear water 100 selections springs out from bottom of pond. It is famous clear water that person coming to draw for this water does not die out throughout the year. A certain drinking water maker released cooling drinks which they made based on water here before. We sell this water itself and still make sake with this water.

Yamabuki water source

When we enter from parking lot forest road and walk a little less than 1km along Ubuyama River, in forest, beautiful water which is chosen as 100 selections of Kumamoto famous clear water springs out from bottom of pond. Approximately 13-14 degrees Celsius, quantity of water to spring out are high in 30 tons a minute, pH 7, transparency, and, in this "Yamabuki water source," as for the water temperature, creature to finish is seen in beautiful place of water including friend and Sawa queen crab of stone fly through the year. We spent time, and, as for this water, rain which it rained in the mountains of Kuzumi of Oita soaked into the non-compaction layer of volcanic ejecta of Aso and Kuzumi (stratum which has not yet hardened). It is "(we quote from P149 of Ichinomiya history book about the town) which stops in firm stratum of mudflow of older Kuzumi in the bottom, and water which soaked appears on the surface of the earth by break of non-compaction layer when we drift to the top, and springs out as spring". The flow becomes Ubuyama River and drifts to Oita while joining various rivers, and it is in the Ono River of the first-grade river.

Takezaki water source

Not spring from Aso caldera central cone (Mt. Aso five), it is water source where begins to breed in rain which it rained to south outer ring via basement. It is nearby, and Shirakawa joins both Aikawa, but this spring flows into both Aikawa. Total quantity of water looks like flow quantity more several-fold than both Aikawa with 2 tons, 120 tons a minute, daily enormous quantity of 172,000 tons for one second. Water source becomes like river rather than pond, and spring points form a line to go along river, and state blowing up black sand is grand. Takebayashi and camellia grow wild on bank, and water which begins to spring out near the root of camellia seems to be delicious in hometown. In addition, waterweed grows thick in large quantities in this water source, and state to shake in total softens heart for flow of spring. And Japanese parsley gives bud on bank in the early spring. We take sweet smell which nobody knows in Japanese parsley which grew in Shimizu and can enjoy seasonal taste.
